Fairview Announces Plans for 2009-10

(Fairview, PA)

The Fairview Tigers announced today their final plans for the 2009-10 season. Fairview will again field a strong Varsity squad for next season. In addition, the Tigers will introduce an "extended season" Junior Varsity team. The Tigers are excited that each team will play age appropriate schedules against opponents that match the teams skill level. "This has opened up the definitions of what each team can do. We can take each team and match our opponents right down to the age group," Director of Recruiting Dave Hahn said. "This is an innovative and new way of thinking about high school hockey. As an organization, this format will benefit everyone."

The Tigers are excited about a new group of incoming players. Originally, the team had been considering a Freshman program. After reviewing the numbers of upperclassmen, the decision was made to take a strong group of 8th and 9th grade players to roster a new second team. "We certainly apologize to those players who anticipated some sort of Freshman team. The numbers we already had with the program combined with the new players suggested that Freshman hockey would not be the way to go," Hahn said. "We feel this model could be something we can build on in future years."

"Fairview is adding a group full of personality, heart, and character. Our coaching staff will consist of an experienced, professional group and we are excited to move forward," Hahn said.
